History recounts that Ute, Arapahoe and Cheyenne peoples were some of the first inhabitants who settled in the region which is currently known as Colorado Springs. General William Jackson Palmer founded Colorado Springs town as a resort town and later the city took control of Old Colorado City. During Pike's Peak Gold Rush in 1858, Old Colorado City was built and appointed the Colorado Territory capital. In 1873, the town became seats of El Paso County and Colorado Springs became a part of the state of Colorado in 1875.
During the late 19th century, the Pikes Peak region was one of the most sought for travel destination in US. The city was reputed for its railways, which became an easily accessible channel for tourists and visitors to reach the region. After the Pearl harbor attack, the United States created Camp Carson, which later, in 1954 turned into Fort Carson. The significant United States Air Force Academy was also instituted in the same year. In the 20th century, Colorado has remarkably established heaps of significant landmarks - Railroads, Airport, Universities, Air Force Academy, Arts Center and much more.
