You definitely need a car to explore the beautiful outdoor attractions of the city. There are several car rental agents located in the town or you can hire one from the airport. Or perhaps, you can take your adventure in two wheels, as Colorado Springs is quite a bike friendly city, with a plenty of bike lanes and miles of bike trails (paved and unpaved). If your tour is restricted into exploring the downtown area or Manitou Springs town, all you need is a comfortable pair of foot wears and let your own feet take you around. Of course beyond these, to reach tourist spots, like Pikes Peak, Seven Falls, cave of the Wind etc., you can only rely on vehicles. As far as public transportation is concerned, the city has cheap and convenient local bus system with eighteen routes. The public transit serves well the locals to run their daily errands, but tourists cannot solely rely on it as they have limited after wee hours and services.
